This unit provides participants with the knowledge and skills to perform a seated massage with competence. Students isolate, identify and massage muscles of the neck, shoulder and arms. The physiological effects of seated massage therapy are discussed, along with contra-indications.
We will demonstrate client positioning for seated massage, to ensure safety and comfort, along with adjustment of client position, to enable appropriate delivery of treatment regardless of whether the client is in a specifically designed chair or in an improvised situation.
Students will learn to plan the Seated Massage delivery, so that the treatment follows an orderly and appropriate sequence. Participants will then learn to apply Seated Massage techniques, with appropriate hand positioning, correct posture and bodyweight positioning, and with techniques applied with correct depth and rhythm. Continuous communication with the client is used for the purposes of feedback.
This course is delivered by fully qualified Remedial Therapists. Participants need to have completed Anatomy & Physiology Level 1 and have done some Deep Tissue training. The program consists of a mixture of theory and practical activities.
This is an excellent unit for therapists planning to enter the world of corporate, seated massage and for all therapists in general to learn an alternate style of treatment. Seated massage further enhances and develops professional skills associated with the therapeutic treatment of common clinical conditions.
On successful completion of this course students will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Please note: This course on its own does not entitle the practitioner to advertise themselves as having a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice or a Diploma of Remedial Massage.
With this course you can earn 10 CPE Points.
